The Nature of Landscape
Introduction
This forms part of a journey of exploration into a greater understanding and appreciation of our countryside. It is a record of my observation and relationship to the rhythms and cycle of life through the seasons.
But living in an age engrossed in the search for scientific knowledge and discovery has had a profound effect on my approach to being creative.
It has inevitably led me to seek insights into an understanding of our existence, and through my work try to show a greater appreciation of the ‘Bigger Picture’.
I find it only possible to do this by thinking in abstract terms, as an intuitive response to complex events. For it is not so much that I ‘see’ Nature as that I ‘absorb’ it, looking to create a ‘whole’ picture as a witness to that event.
Group 1 - 'Tracks Series'
Wildlife - Where for example, tracks, territories, marker points and flight paths become prominent in landscape, if observed from their point of view. In this environment ones senses too become heightened.
